Donald Trump ha fatto dell’insulto uno strumento di governo. Giorgia Meloni, l’ultima vittima, è stata bersaglio di una dichiarazione che il presidente americano ha rilasciato a proposito di una foto scattata al G7: “Mi ha implorato di fare una foto con lei.

Voleva una foto con me così tanto. L’avrei anche non fatta, ma mi ha fatto pena”. La premier italiana ha risposto con un video, definendo le parole di Trump “totalmente inventate”. I media internazionali hanno raccontato lo scontro, e il Washington Post ha ricordato che Meloni era considerata la “Trump whisperer”, la leader più vicina al presidente americano. Ora quella vicinanza si è trasformata in una debolezza, in un’alleanza che si sgretola sotto il peso degli insulti.

Questa non è la prima volta che Trump usa l’offesa come arma politica. Ha attaccato Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Keir Starmer, Justin Trudeau e persino i pontefici. Papa Francesco e Papa Leone XIV sono stati definiti “vergognosi” e “deboli”. Ha chiamato Volodymyr Zelensky “dittatore senza elezioni” e lo ha accusato di giocare con la Terza guerra mondiale. Eppure, nonostante tutto, il presidente americano continua a sedersi ai tavoli del G7 e a stringere le mani dei leader che ha umiliato, come se l’insulto fosse solo un passaggio obbligato prima di passare agli affari. La diplomazia, per Trump, è un gioco in cui le parole offensive sono solo un’altra mossa.

Nel frattempo, in Libano, la tregua tra Israele e Hezbollah è già stata violata. Un raid aereo israeliano ha ucciso cinque persone nella città di Arabsalim, e l’artiglieria ha bombardato Nabatieh durante la notte. Il primo ministro israeliano Benjamin Netanyahu ha avvertito: “Pagheranno un prezzo molto alto. Israele rimarrà nella zona di sicurezza finché sarà necessario”. Il portavoce militare israeliano ha parlato di “piena libertà operativa”. La pace, in Medio Oriente, è sempre una tregua armata.

E mentre il mondo si divide tra insulti e bombe, gli italiani si preparano al caldo. Il ministero della Salute ha diffuso il decalogo per sopravvivere alle ondate di calore, e l’Agenzia delle Entrate ha ricordato che il bonus per l’acquisto di condizionatori è stato prorogato fino al 31 dicembre 2026. Il ventilatore non basta più, i condizionatori sono la soluzione più cercata. Le ricerche nella categoria sono cresciute del 12,4% rispetto all’anno scorso, e l’attenzione si concentra su modelli smart e ad alta efficienza energetica.

Intanto, i negoziati tra Stati Uniti e Iran sul programma nucleare sono in fase di avvio. Steve Witkoff e Jared Kushner sono in Svizzera, ma Teheran ha detto che non c’è “alcuna urgenza”. La questione centrale è l’uranio arricchito al 60%, di cui l’Iran possiede circa 440 chili. Trump ha ribadito la sua linea rossa: “L’Iran non avrà mai armi atomiche”.

La giornata si chiude con un altro titolo: “Meloni asfalta Trump”. Il New York Post ha usato questa espressione, e i media internazionali hanno raccontato lo scontro come un evento che segna un punto di svolta nei rapporti tra Europa e Stati Uniti. La Bbc parla di “scontro aperto”, il Guardian di un rapporto che si incrina, il Washington Post di una debolezza che emerge. Tutti si chiedono se l’alleanza tra il leader americano e la premier italiana possa sopravvivere a questa crisi.

E mentre i grandi della terra si scambiano insulti e le bombe cadono sul Libano, l’Italia si prepara all’estate con un condizionatore e una buona dose di rassegnazione. Il caffè è servito.

The Diplomacy of Insult, Bombs in Lebanon, and the Air Conditioner That Saves Summer

Donald Trump has turned insult into a tool of governance. Giorgia Meloni, his latest victim, was the target of a statement released by the American President regarding a photo taken at the G7: “She begged me to take a photo with her. She wanted a photo with me so much. I might not have done it, but she made me feel sorry for her.” The Italian Prime Minister responded with a video, labeling Trump’s words as “completely fabricated.” International media reported on the clash, and The Washington Post recalled that Meloni was considered the “Trump whisperer,” the leader closest to the American President. Now, that closeness has transformed into weakness, an alliance crumbling under the weight of insults.

This is not the first time Trump has used offense as a political weapon. He has attacked Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Keir Starmer, Justin Trudeau, and even popes. Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV were labeled “shameful” and “weak.” He called Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator without elections” and accused him of playing with World War III. Yet, despite everything, the American President continues to sit at G7 tables and shake hands with leaders he has humiliated, as if the insult were merely a mandatory step before moving on to business. For Trump, diplomacy is a game where offensive words are just another move.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has already been violated. An Israeli airstrike killed five people in the town of Arabsalim, and artillery shelled Nabatieh overnight. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned: “They will pay a very high price. Israel will remain in the security zone as long as necessary.” The Israeli military spokesperson spoke of “full operational freedom.” Peace in the Middle East is always an armed truce.

And while the world divides itself between insults and bombs, Italians are preparing for the heat. The Ministry of Health has issued its decalogue for surviving heatwaves, and the Revenue Agency has reminded citizens that the bonus for purchasing air conditioners has been extended until December 31, 2026. A fan is no longer sufficient; air conditioners are the most sought-after solution. Searches in this category have grown by 12.4% compared to last year, with attention focusing on smart models and high energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, negotiations between the United States and Iran on the nuclear program are in their launch phase. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are in Switzerland, but Tehran has stated there is “no urgency.” The central issue is enriched uranium at 60%, of which Iran possesses approximately 440 kilograms. Trump reiterated his red line: “Iran will never get nuclear weapons.”

The day closes with another headline: “Meloni Asphalts Trump.” The New York Post used this expression, and international media portrayed the clash as an event marking a turning point in relations between Europe and the United States. The BBC speaks of an “open confrontation,” The Guardian of a fracturing relationship, and The Washington Post of emerging weakness.
