Il Caffè della VerGOGNA – Edizione del 24 giugno 2026

Due uomini sono morti oggi sulle spiagge della Sardegna. Il primo, un ragazzo portoghese di ventisette anni, è stato trovato senza vita sugli scogli di Cala Cartoe, nel Golfo di Orosei, dopo un bagno che doveva essere rinfrescante e che invece si è rivelato fatale.

Il secondo, un settantenne, è stato colto da malore mentre faceva il bagno nel Poetto di Quartu Sant’Elena, e i bagnanti che lo hanno visto affondare hanno provato a salvarlo, ma i soccorsi sono arrivati troppo tardi. Il caldo, quello che il ministero della Salute ha segnato con sedici bollini rossi per oggi e diciassette per domani, sta mietendo le sue vittime, e mentre le città si svuotano e le spiagge si riempiono, la natura si prende il suo tributo senza fare sconti.

A Berlino, intanto, i grandi dell’Europa si riuniscono per parlare di cose serie. Il vertice E5, con Francia, Germania, Gran Bretagna, Italia e Polonia, è stato convocato per preparare il summit Nato di Ankara, ma l’ombra delle divergenze è lunga. Merz e Macron hanno litigato su chi debba guidare i negoziati con la Russia, e Costa ha tentato di infilarsi nel mezzo. La crisi tra Meloni e Trump, dopo il G7, aleggia come un fantasma, e il presidente americano continua a ripetere che gli alleati europei non lo hanno aiutato in Iran, dimenticando che forse, a volte, aiutare qualcuno significa anche dirgli di fermarsi.

Sul fronte nucleare, la commedia dei malintesi tra Stati Uniti e Iran prosegue senza sosta. Trump insiste che Teheran ha accettato le ispezioni dell’Aiea, ma i portavoce iraniani continuano a negare, e la loro posizione viene confermata dall’agenzia Fars. L’accordo, ormai, assomiglia sempre di più a un gioco di specchi in cui nessuno sa più cosa sia vero e cosa no. E mentre i diplomatici si scambiano messaggi, il caldo non dà tregua, e le città italiane si preparano a un’altra giornata di afa.

La Sardegna piange i suoi morti, e le notizie si accumulano come macerie. Ma il caffè di questa mattina è allegro, perché il sarcasmo è l’unico modo per non piangere di fronte all’assurdo.

The Sea That Kills, the Summit That Quarrels, and the Air Conditioner That Is Not Enough

Two men died today on the beaches of Sardinia. The first, a twenty-seven-year-old Portuguese boy, was found lifeless on the rocks of Cala Cartoe, in the Gulf of Orosei, after a bath that should have been refreshing and instead proved fatal. The second, a seventy-year-old, was struck by a sudden illness while bathing at Poetto in Quartu Sant’Elena, and the swimmers who saw him sink tried to save him, but rescue arrived too late. The heat, which the Ministry of Health has marked with sixteen red alerts for today and seventeen for tomorrow, is claiming its victims, and while the cities empty out and the beaches fill up, nature collects its tribute without making concessions.

Meanwhile, in Berlin, the great powers of Europe are gathering to talk about serious matters. The E5 summit, with France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Poland, has been convened to prepare the NATO summit in Ankara, but the shadow of divergences is long. Merz and Macron argued over who must lead the negotiations with Russia, and Costa tried to slip himself in the middle. The crisis between Meloni and Trump, following the G7, hovers like a ghost, and the American President continues to repeat that European allies did not help him in Iran, forgetting that perhaps, sometimes, helping someone also means telling them to stop.

On the nuclear front, the comedy of misunderstandings between the United States and Iran continues non-stop. Trump insists that Tehran has accepted IAEA inspections, but Iranian spokespeople continue to deny it, and their position is confirmed by the Fars Agency. The agreement now resembles more and more a hall of mirrors in which no one knows anymore what is true and what is not. And while diplomats exchange messages, the heat gives no truce, and Italian cities prepare for another day of stifling mugginess.

Sardinia mourns its dead, and the news accumulates like rubble. But this morning’s coffee is cheerful, because sarcasm is the only way not to weep before the absurd.
