Il segretario generale della Nato, Mark Rutte, ha scatenato una bufera diplomatica dichiarando a Fox News che cinquecento aerei statunitensi hanno utilizzato le basi italiane per supportare l’operazione ‘Epic Fury’ contro l’Iran.

La Difesa italiana ha risposto con una nota durissima, definendo la ricostruzione “totalmente fallace” e precisando che si trattava esclusivamente di voli tecnici e logistici, non di attività offensive. Il ministro Crosetto si è detto pronto a riferire in Aula e a elencare volo per volo le autorizzazioni concesse. Ma la polemica è ormai esplosa, con le opposizioni che chiedono chiarimenti e Trump che, immancabilmente, ha rincarato la dose lamentando di essere stato “abbandonato” dagli alleati europei. Una storia che sa di déjà-vu, in cui la verità sembra essere l’ultima delle preoccupazioni.

Mentre i politici si scambiano accuse a distanza, il Venezuela è stato sconvolto da due fortissime scosse di terremoto, di magnitudo 7.2 e 7.5, avvenute a distanza di pochi secondi l’una dall’altra. La capitale Caracas è stata devastata, con palazzi crollati e strade trasformate in cumuli di macerie. Il bilancio provvisorio parla di almeno trentadue morti e settecento feriti, ma è destinato a salire. Trump ha già annunciato la disponibilità degli Stati Uniti a intervenire con squadre di soccorso e aiuti umanitari, in un gesto che molti leggono come un tentativo di riavvicinamento al governo venezuelano dopo anni di tensioni. E mentre la terra continua a tremare, il caldo record non dà tregua nemmeno all’Italia, con diciassette città oggi in bollino rosso e diciotto previste per domani.

Infine, la tragedia di Camaiore, dove Piero Moriconi, sessantatré anni, ha ucciso a fucilate la moglie Kathy Andreoni e il figlio Mirko, prima di salire sul tetto della casa e lasciarsi arrestare senza opporre resistenza. Il giovane Mirko, che sui social si faceva chiamare Michelangelo Andreoni, aveva scritto in un post del 2022: “È brutto pensare che un padre ti preferisca morto piuttosto che gay”. Una frase che oggi suona come una profezia, e che gli investigatori stanno vagliando insieme alle testimonianze di tensioni familiari. L’uomo, dopo il duplice omicidio, avrebbe detto a parenti e vicini: “Mi sono liberato di loro”. Un’uscita che gelifica il sangue e che lascia intravedere un abisso di odio e incomprensione.

Il caffè di questa mattina è un composto amaro di menzogne politiche, catastrofi naturali e violenza domestica. E mentre i potenti litigano su chi abbia o meno autorizzato i voli, la terra trema in Venezuela e il caldo uccide in Italia, una famiglia viene distrutta dall’odio e dalla paura. Il mondo, come sempre, continua a girare. Ma forse, a volte, sarebbe meglio che si fermasse.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ignited a diplomatic storm by declaring to Fox News that five hundred US aircraft used Italian bases to support operation ‘Epic Fury’ against Iran. The Italian Ministry of Defense responded with a stern note, defining the account as “totally fallacious” and clarifying that these were exclusively technical and logistical flights, not offensive activities. Minister Crosetto expressed readiness to report in parliament and to list flight by flight the authorizations granted. But the controversy has now exploded, with the opposition demanding clarification and Trump, inevitably, adding fuel to the fire by complaining of being “abandoned” by European allies. A story smelling of déjà-vu, in which truth seems to be the last concern.

While politicians exchange accusations from afar, Venezuela has been shaken by two extremely strong earthquake tremors, of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, occurring seconds apart. The capital Caracas was devastated, with buildings collapsed and streets transformed into piles of rubble. The preliminary death toll speaks of at least thirty-two dead and seven hundred injured, but it is destined to rise. Trump has already announced the availability of the United States to intervene with rescue teams and humanitarian aid, a gesture many read as an attempt to rapprochement with the Venezuelan government after years of tensions. And while the earth continues to tremble, record heat gives no truce even to Italy, with seventeen cities today under red alert and eighteen expected tomorrow.

Finally, the tragedy in Camaiore, where Piero Moriconi, sixty-three years old, killed his wife Kathy Andreoni and their son Mirko with shotgun blasts, before climbing onto the house roof and allowing himself to be arrested without resistance. Young Mirko, who on social media went by Michelangelo Andreoni, wrote in a 2022 post: “It’s terrible to think that a father would prefer you dead rather than gay.” A sentence that today sounds like a prophecy, and which investigators are examining alongside testimonies of family tensions. After the double murder, the man reportedly told relatives and neighbors: “I got rid of them.” An utterance that freezes the blood and hints at an abyss of hate and misunderstanding.

This morning’s coffee is a bitter blend of political lies, natural catastrophes, and domestic violence. And while the powerful quarrel over who did or did not authorize the flights, the earth trembles in Venezuela, heat kills in Italy, and a family is destroyed by hatred and fear. The world, as always, continues to turn. But perhaps, sometimes, it would be better if it stopped.
